Aim and Scope:

The project comprises: the synthesis of multi-component catalysts, applicable in industrial food production processes and synthesis of a new type of catalyst for industrial production of biodiesel; modification of bentonite and commercial materials by substituents, active components and promoters with goal of synthesis of nanomaterials applicable in catalyst synthesis, environmental protection, photocatalysis and electrocatalysis; synthesis of composites, nanocomposites and geotextiles based on bentonite-polymer/textile applicable in environmental protection and sorption processes; use of supercritical fluids in the synthesis of nano-sized and submicronic particles of new composite materials and effective supports/adsorbents (food processing, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry); modeling of reaction mechanisms at phase boundaries during catalyst syntheses and of nonlinear adsorption and catalytic processes on composite materials with fractal pore structure using stoichiometric network analysis; analysis of current and projected market with identification of factors that determine projected costs and price analysis according to projected product range; comparative analysis of optional technological process and production facility solutions from the aspect of technical feasibility and economic efficiency; specific analysis of process and production facility suitability from the aspect of its micro- and macro-location and environmental impact for two selected production programs.

Major Results:

The synthesis of active and selective catalysts for the hydrogenation of edible vegetable oil and fat and their use in food industry; the synthesis of a new type of biodiesel production catalyst from domestic resources, alcoholysis (methanolysis/ethanolysis) of oil feedstock and conquest of glycerol separation technology; bentonite modification with goal of synthesis of sorbents for the removal of organic and inorganic pollutants, catalysts for the degradation of water pollutants by oxidation, sensors and biosensors, electrocatalysts in the oxidation of phenol, toluene, benzene and different textile dyes, composites for photocatalytic degradation of dyes, composites based on polymers and geotextiles; the obtainment of aerogel and other catalyst supports, active compounds, as well as adsorbents, with possible application in the production of biodiesel, food or cosmetics; techno-economic analysis and project documentation preparation for individual products and technologies as a background for the practical application of investigation results in economically and ecologically feasible industrial practice.
