The coordinating institution made a noticed contribution to study of biodiversity, freshwater ecology, and conservation of water bodies in SEE. In recent years, there was a magnificent progress in an ecological status assessment using new eDNA methods. The main objectives of BIOLAWEB projects are: (1) training of ICTM’s researchers in metabarcoding in two leading scientific institutions, (2) improvement of eDNA methods that could be used in water monitoring across the Europe, and (3) building of research management capacity at ICTM. The project is consisted of 6 work packages related to training of ICTM’s research and administrative staff at NIVA and INRAE, joint research and numerous expert visits, courses, and summer school for students, ESR and other researchers.
