The REFBAR consortium is excited to announce its first hybrid workshop, “eDNA Sampling Strategies,” which will take place on May 28, 2026, in Groningen (Van der Valk Hotel Groningen – Hoogkerk, Borchsingel 53 9766PP Eelderwolde, Netherlands) and online via Zoom.
Organized in collaboration with Sylphium Molecular Ecology and international experts, this workshop will bring together scientists, students, and stakeholders interested in the latest developments in environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling.
Preliminary program:
Morning session – Lectures covering:
- an introduction to various eDNA sampling strategies
- obstacles and opportunities of applying eDNA in practice
- a case study on eDNA-based bat detection for housing insulation
- selecting appropriate equipment for efficient sampling and optimal results
Lunch – provided
Afternoon session – Hands-on training for onsite participants on using different filters and sampling devices for on-site water filtration for eDNA analysis.
