Workshop description:  This interactive workshop highlights the importance of open scientific infrastructure—the systems and services that support the entire research cycle, from data collection to publication and dissemination of results. Through a short introductory presentation and discussion, participants will be introduced to key principles such as open standards, transparency, sustainability, and the role of the research community, as well as challenges such as dependence on commercial platforms. The central part of the workshop consists of group work, where participants will analyze practical situations commonly encountered in their research practice. The workshop encourages critical thinking and exchange of experiences. It is intended for researchers, editors, librarians, decisionmakers, and all those who wish to better understand how open infrastructure contributes to scientific sovereignty and the free flow of knowledge. Through this exchange, participants will contribute to building a more open academic environment and gain skills for making informed decisions that ensure their work remains visible and accessible in the long term, in line with open science principles.

In addition to this workshop, three other accompanying workshops will be held on Saturday, 20 June 2026. The same registration link applies to all workshops. They take place on the same day but at different times, allowing participants to combine multiple sessions.

The main program of the 8th PSSOH Conference will be held on Friday, 26 June 2026, starting at 10:00, in Amphitheatre 56 (ground floor of the Technical Faculties building, Bulevar kralja Aleksandra 73).
