The success of our researchers – licensed innovation of Dr. Uroš Andjelković

The license for innovation of our colleague Dr. Uroš Andjelković was signed. Dr. Andjelković, in cooperation with an international team of researchers from the Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy and the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana, University Clinic in Ulm, University of Montenegro, and Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, discovered a new antiviral agent.

Antiviral activity was confirmed on HIV-1, HSV-1 and HSV-2, Influenza A and SARS-CoV-2 viruses. The new antiviral agent can protect against viruses from these groups and push the boundaries of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. This discovery results from work on this topic for more than 35 years at the Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy and Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade. The success of our researchers - Stanford University updated list of top 2% scientists in the world

We are proud of the results of our colleagues, Svetlana Štrbac and Nebojša D. Nikolić, who are on the list of 2% top scientists in the world published by Stanford University.

Stanford University has published the third version of the list based on the Aug 01, 2021 snapshot from Scopus and is updated to citation year 2020: Baas, Jeroen; Boyack, Kevin; Ioannidis, John P.A. (2021), “August 2021 data-update for "Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators"”, Mendeley Data, V3, doi: 10.17632/btchxktzyw.3 (published on 19. 10. 2021). The list, based on a standardized citation metrics, includes over 100,000 scientists, of which 67 are scientists from institutions in Serbia from various disciplines.

Guest lectures

On Friday, November 5, 2021, at 11 a.m., we will have the opportunity to hear 2 lectures by guest doctoral students from abroad who are currently on a research stay at ICTM:

1. Mateja Matišić, Ruđer Bošković Institute, Zagreb, Republic of Croatia, will give a lecture entitled: "Stereoselective synthesis of β, β-diarylketone with β-tetrasubstituted stereogenic center" from 11:00 to 11:30. The introductory word will be given by our colleague Dr. Bojan Bondzic.

2. Aydogan Avcioglu, Eurasia Institute of Earth Sciences, Istanbul Technical University, Turkey will give a lecture entitled: "The Main Topics of Earth Surface Processes in Turkey" from 11:30 to 12:00. The introductory word will be given by our colleague Dr. Milica Kašanin-Grubin.

ICTM participates in a project funded by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons

ICTM participates in the international project "Detection of herbs and dietary supplements fraud using metabolomics approach" funded by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). ICTM participates in this project as the principal partner under the leadership of our colleague Dr. Dejan Godjevac. In the research so far, adulteration markers in oregano and chokeberry samples were detected using a metabolomic approach on different instrumental platforms (NMR, GC-MS, LC-MS, and HPTLC). Also, the presence of illicit substances in two dietary supplements was determined. Read more about the project on the page.
