The success of our researchers – projects approved for funding under the "Ideas" program of the Science Fund

The Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia has published the final list of projects (In Serbian) that will be financed in the next three years within the IDEAS program. As many as 917 project proposals competed for the IDEAS program, which is the largest program of the Science Fund so far. Within the evaluation procedure, conducted in two stages, 105 projects were selected for funding. ICTM is proud of the success of its researchers - 4 projects were proposed by ICTM researchers! Our researchers are also participating in 1 approved project of the Faculty of Chemistry.

The four projects approved under the IDEAS program of the Science Fund, led by ICTM researchers, are:

  • NES – „Physicochemical aspects of rhythmicity in neuroendocrine systems: Dynamic and kinetic investigations of underlying reaction networks and their main compounds“ – Željko Čupić, with colleagues from ICTM, Faculty of Physical Chemistry, University of Belgrade, Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Kragujevac and the Institute of General and Physical Chemistry.
  • TMMagCat – „Tailoring Molecular Magnets and Catalysts Based on Transition Metal Complexes“ – Matija Zlatar, with colleagues from ICTM, Faculty of Chemistry and Innovation Center of the Faculty of Chemistry.
  • AdCatFC – „Advanced Catalysts for Low Temperature Fuel Cells: From Model System to Sustainable Catalysts“ – Sanja Stevanović, with colleagues from ICTM.
  • MEMSAERO – „MEMS Multisensor Instrument for Aerodynamic Pressure Measurements“ – Miloš Frantlović, with colleagues from IHTM and Singidunum University.

Congratulations to all the teams! We wish them a lot of success in the realization of the planned research!

Air pollution in the Western Balkans: lessons learned from atmospheric aerosol research in the city of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

On Thursday, November 25, 2021, doc. Dr. Katja Džepina from the University of Nova Gorica, Slovenia, gave a lecture " Air pollution in the Western Balkans: lessons learned from atmospheric aerosol research in the city of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina." The talk was organized by the Center of excellence for environmental chemistry and engineering of ICTM. Several photos are attached.

The success of our researchers – licensed innovation of Dr. Uroš Andjelković

The license for innovation of our colleague Dr. Uroš Andjelković was signed. Dr. Andjelković, in cooperation with an international team of researchers from the Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy and the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana, University Clinic in Ulm, University of Montenegro, and Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, discovered a new antiviral agent.

Antiviral activity was confirmed on HIV-1, HSV-1 and HSV-2, Influenza A and SARS-CoV-2 viruses. The new antiviral agent can protect against viruses from these groups and push the boundaries of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. This discovery results from work on this topic for more than 35 years at the Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy and Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade. You can read more about the news on the Center for Technology Transfer of the University of Belgrade website.
