Dr Miloš Ćirić and Željka Milovanović participated at the 53rdInternational Conference on Water Use and Protection"VODA 2024", which took place in Palić, Serbia, from May 27 to 29. Dr Ćirić presented the first phytoplankton eDNA metabarcoding results from Markovačko Lake during an oral presentation titled "Assessment of the Ecological Status of Markovačko Lake - A New Approach in Biomonitoring". His talk not only explained the new methods but also showed their importance for biomonitoring.
Representatives from different research institutions in Serbia and stakeholders responsible for water biomonitoring in Serbia attended the conference. So, this conference was important for spreading awareness about the new approach to assessing the ecological status of water bodies in Serbia.
