SAIGE project – Memorandum of Understanding signed

The director of the Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy, Dr. Jasmina Stevanović, on 31/10/2022, signed a Memorandum of Understanding and an Agreement with the Ministry to support the transformation process of institutes that carry out scientific research activities. This marked the official start of our institute's transformation process within the Serbia Accelerating Innovation and Growth Entrepreneurship (SAIGE) project. ICTM is in the third group of institutes that joined this project. The SAIGE project is financed and implemented in cooperation between our country, the World Bank, and the European Union, with the aim of additional investment in science, technological development, innovation, and innovative entrepreneurship.

ICTM at the Biotech Future Forum

ICTM researchers attended the international conference "Biotech Future Forum," organized by the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the World Economic Forum with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in the Palace of Serbia on 10/20/2022. The goal of the meeting was to improve cooperation and exchange of knowledge and experience in three areas - biotechnology, bioinformatics, and bioengineering- and connect the public and private sectors with the academic community. The new Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Serbia was officially launched at the meeting, which recently joined the Global Network of Centers for the Fourth Industrial Revolution of the World Economic Forum. The future Bio4 campus was also presented.

On this occasion, IHTM informally presented its research in biotechnology, bioinformatics, biomedical chemistry, and metabolomics.

Training school – “Connecting Science and Practice in Urban Wetlands”

The “Connecting Science and Practice in Urban Wetlands” training school will take place on June 6th -9th 2023, in Belgrade and Obrenovac, Serbia. The training school is aimed at Ph.D. students and young scientists to apply an interdisciplinary approach when assessing the pollution status of urban wetlands, evaluating ecosystem services, and analyzing possible scenarios of land use change in similar urban wetland areas worldwide. SAIGE project - visit of representatives of INOMER to our Institute

Representatives of the consulting company INOMER, Sirin Elci (director), and Dr. Tome Antičić (consultant) visited our Institute on Thursday, 08/09. Over the past few months, INOMER has coordinated the international expert assessment of ICTM and the preparation of the Institute's Transformation Plan within the framework of the SAIGE Project (Serbia Accelerating Innovation and Growth Entrepreneurship). The SAIGE project is financed and implemented in cooperation between our country, the World Bank, and the European Union, with the aim of additional investment in science, technological development, innovation, and innovative entrepreneurship. The reform of 20 institutes is planned within the project, including ICTM. The meeting where the finalization of the draft of the Transformation Plan was discussed was attended by members of the ICTM Transformation Team: Dr. Vladimir Panić, Dr. Željko Čupić, Dr. Dana Vasiljević-Radović, Dr. Slobodan Cvetković, Dr. Nebojša Nikolić, Dr. Nataša Božić, Dr. Bojan Bondžić, and Dr. Matija Zlatar.
