Presentation of the NES project in the TV show "Science to industry" (Nauka privredi)

The NES project (Physicochemical aspects of rhythmicity in neuroendocrine systems: Dynamic and kinetic investigations of underlying reaction networks and their main compounds) funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia through the program IDEAS was presented in the show "Science to industry" (Nauka privredi) on RTV (Radio-television of Vojvodina). Dr. Željko Čuipć, principal research fellow and PI, and Dr. Ana Ivanvić Šašić, senior research associate, presented the goals and basic concepts behind the NES project and, at the same time, promoted our institute and part of the research carried out at ICTM.

Lecture recording - "Practical aspects of open science - thoughts of a chemist"

On Wednesday, February 8, 2023, starting at 4:00 p.m., Dr. Matija Zlatar, Principal Research Fellow at the Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy (ICTM), held an online lecture in Serbian language entitled "Practical aspects of open science - thoughts of a chemist". The lecture was organized by the Open Science Community Serbia.

In this presentation, the institutional repository of ICTM, CeR, was presented. Using the example of the TMMagCat project, it was presented how the repository can be used to disseminate the results of projects financed by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia.

Information about the lecture is available at the Open Science Community Serbia website (link). The presentation and summary of the lecture are available on the Zenodo platform: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7622387, as well as at CeR: Abstract of the lecture: "Practical aspects of open science - thoughts of a chemist"(bg.ac.rs) and Lecture: "Practical aspects of open science - thoughts of a chemist" (bg.ac.rs)

Promotion of centers of excellence

In the Republic of Serbia, there are currently 15 Scientific Centerс of Excellence. This status can only be obtained by those that achieve top-notch, internationally recognized scientific and professional results and achievements in a specific scientific discipline and, based on that, have developed international scientific, technical, and technological cooperation. The association Knowledge Committee of Serbia, with the help of the Center for the Promotion of Science, realized the project "Centers of excellence," which they were presented to the general public.

Two centers of excellence have been accredited at ICTM:  the Center for Microelectronic Technologies and the Center for Environmental Chemistry and engineering. Their presentation can be seen at:

  • Center of Excellence - Center for Environmental Chemistry and engineering:

  • Center of Excellence - Centri izuzetnih vrednosti - Center for Microelectronic Technologies:

In-house promotion of the newly established International Cooperation and Project Office (ICPO)

The beginning of February was dedicated to promoting the newly established office and BIOLAWEB project at UB-ICTM.

We are glad to announce that our new office has an official name, the International Cooperation and Project Office, and an expanded team. Representatives of the ICPO and BIOLAWEB team have conducted the first survey (questionnaire) to identify the needs, skills, and competencies required for new office staff.

The in-house promotion started with the Department of Electrochemistry, Department of Ecology and Technoeconomic, Department of Materials and Metallurgy, and Department of Catalysis and Chemical Engineering. The second day was dedicated to the Department of Catalysis and Chemical Engineering and the Department of Microelectronic Technologies. On the last day, the promotion was held at the Department of Chemistry.

ICPO’s goal is to support our researchers in their efforts to submit and implement more high-quality research projects. Collecting data on the needs of UB-ICTM researchers, their ambitions for applying to international projects, and their interest in developing a scientific strategy in the field of biomonitoring is the first step towards achieving this goal.
